Only a couple of items this week!
- Jennifer Lopez did an interview with 104.7 KISS FM on December 11th and mentions Alex O’Loughlin when she talks about The Back-up Plan:
RH: Who is in it?
Jen: His name is Alex O’Loughlin.
RH: From where do we know him from?
Jen: You might know him from the show Moonlight where he played a vampire.
Jen: He has this huge following because of it, when we were on set there were always women around, they were like obsessed with him.
RH: Did you pick him?
Jen: Yeah, well I helped to pick him, the director was like “I love this guy”.
RH: How come you didn’t go for someone like Brad Pitt or another big name?
Jen: We wanted someone fresh that we haven’t seen in this kind of movie a million times. Romantic comedies are a different thing; you have to be funny, charming and romantic, not everybody can do comedy, and we were looking for something fresh. You can listen to full interview at LovelyLopez.net and read the full transcript.
- It appears that one or two scenes for The Back-up Plan require reshooting and they are doing that this weekend! So assuming that the scenes involve Alex, this would explain why he was unable to attend the Summit for Life event in Aspen. Scott Barnes, Jennifer’s make-up artist, posted a picture on TwitPic. You can’t see who’s who, but maybe Alex is there. Somewhere
. Many thanks to Nadioz for these updates! - Remember that promo for The Back-up Plan a while back? It was taken off YouTube, but popped back up again, so if you missed it the first time around, check it out here.
- It looks as if Tuesday, December 15th will be the last day of shooting for Three Rivers. After that, it’s anybody’s guess if and when the remaining episodes will air.
- CBS aired a repeat of NCIS: LA on December 6th and it didn’t fare any better than Three Rivers did in the same slot. Granted, it was a repeat, but still…
CBS had the “Amazing Race” finale (12.3 million, 3.7), up an impressive 19% over last fall and spring editions. CBS also aired a slightly improved “Cold Case” (9.7 million, 2.2) and a repeat of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (7.3 million, 1.6) that nearly drew what “Three Rivers” averaged in the slot.

- Pittsburgh’s Whirl magazine published an interview with Kate Moennig about Three Rivers earlier this month. The author also mentions Alex:
It seems that Miranda’s No. 1 candidate for on-screen love is the searing-eyed Dr. Andy Yablonski (the McDreamy of this show). I spent one hot (in temperature) August day with actor Alex O’Loughlin when he was filming a rugby scene at Bigbee Field on Mt. Washington.
When the long day of filming was over, McLoughlin [sic] took shade under a tent with me, bloody-kneed and waxing poetic (with an Australian accent, mind you) about his new show. The idea that his character should play rugby was his idea. “Pittsburgh’s a kind of industrial city,” O’Loughlin says, “and even with the steel stadium and this being a football town, it seems a place to play a tough game like rugby.”
Thanks to Lancer for the find!

i can’t help but smile MizzoH. Even JLo calls this movie a romantic comedy! Alex is so busted. We know the movie will be great and the chemistry for them is obviously there in spades. I am looking forward to Alex being “funny, charming and romantic”.
I hope they will air the remaining episodes of Three Rivers. The cast and crew worked hard to complete them and I think they should be viewed.
Yeah well, guys will be guys… and they just DON”T DO rom-coms… LOL!!! He probably never expected for that video segment to be released, Sky ;-D. Still, the movie will be a hit regardless of its pigeonhole! Is it April yet?!
You are so correct Mizz! But I predict he will change his tune and come to love romantic comedies when he sees how successful this movie is and how he is offered more! He did say he wants to do feature films. So we’ll let him ease into the idea slowly, so it’s not so painful for him!

Thank you MizzoH for your weekly update on Alex O’Loughlin. I hope to hear about Alex’s next new television leading role soon. CBS should air the remaining 5 new episodes of Three Rivers, after all the hard work filming them by the talented cast. I will be watching Alex on The Back Up Plan in a few months.
