Hawaii Five-0‘s Governor Pat Jameson is not the dark-haired Demi Moore, Tia Carrere or Kelly Hu. The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that the “honest politician” who is a “local Hawaiian with a Washingtonian’s backbone” is three-time Emmy winner buxom blonde Jean Smart!
With women having made great strides in politics in the forty years since the original series, the creators of the updated “Hawaii,” “Star Trek” writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and “CSI: NY’ executive producer Peter Lenkov, went for a gender switch. On the original, Gov. Paul Jameson was played by Richard Denning.
Smart, who is billed as a guest star in the “Hawaii” pilot, most recently co-starred on the ABC comedy “Samantha Who?” which earned her an Emmy.
Jean is a Seattle native whom Variety calls a Hollywood anomaly, because at the age of 58 she continues to be very much in demand. Known for her comedic talent, she is also a Tony Award-nominated Broadway performer, earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination in 2000 for her supporting role in the art house drama Guinevere, and has drawn acclaim in TV movies. Her guest appearances on Frasier have won her two Emmys in consecutive years (2000 and 2001), and in 2006 and 2007 Jean received an Emmy nomination for her performance as 24‘s First Lady Martha Logan. It wasn’t until 2008 that she won her third Emmy, this time for her performance in Samantha Who?

Thank you MizzoH. I just found out about Jean Smart being cast as Governor Pat Jameson on Hawaii Five-O. I believe she will be perfect as the honest and intelligent governor of Hawaii. :sailor:
Great choice, I only know her from 24, she did a terrific job as the President’s wife!!
