Alex recently took his cute four-footed friend Dusty to be pampered at Cocojor, the local all-natural doggie spa! The photo with Dusty below was posted last week by the spa’s owner, Monica Shigenaga, who is also in the second image from September 2011 with Alex.

Hawaii Five-0 Updates

Daniel Dae Kim joined the panel of judges for an episode of Iron Chef called “Military Grill Battle” that was filmed at the Kane’ohe Bay Marine Corps Base in December 2011. The episode airs on the Food Network on June 2 and 3; of course Mark Dacascos also returns as The Chairman!
Like last year, Hawaii Five-0 is once again nominated for a Teen Choice Award in the Action TV Show category! Also repeating last year’s nominations for Action TV Show Actor and Actress are Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park. Voting is open to teens residing in the USA at Teen Choice Awards 2012. You will need to register, and you can vote on a daily basis until July 21. The awards show airs on July 22 at 8 PM ET. A tweet from Daniel:

6. Best Mommy Issues: On the season finale of Hawaii Five-0, Terry O’Quinn‘s Joe White returns to clear up this whole Shelburne mystery. Joe insists that Shelburne is real and invites McGarrett to join him on a trip to Japan to finally lay eyes on the mysterious person. As McGarrett approaches Shelburne’s house, Joe disappears into thin air just before McGarrett is greeted by the person on the other side of the door. “Mom?” he says in amazement. Surprise!

No Scheduling Changes for Hawaii Five-0 in 2012-2013 Season

It’s upfront day today, an annual event during which CBS presents its programming for the next fall to the advertisers. Traditionally, it’s a nerve-wracking day for fans because it’s also when the pickups and renewals are announced, but this time around we have been spared the stress of waiting as we already know there will be a Season 3 for Hawaii Five-0!

The biggest news to come from New York City today is that no changes will be made to the scheduling of Hawaii Five-0. The show remains in its current timeslot of 10 PM on Mondays.

Hawaii Five-0′s Upcoming Story Arcs

Matt Mitovich at TV|Line gets straight to the point in his version of last week’s interview with Peter Lenkov and Elwood Reid! He not only recaps the important plot developments from the season finale, but also tells us where Hawaii Five-0 will be heading with them come September.

The article is chock-full of spoilers, so here’s a summary:

Season 3 will pick up exactly where we left off, so that means the first scene will be the Steve-and-Shelburne confrontation.
Chin Ho will be put through hell and back again and DDK is up to the challenge!
Danny’s family-related storyline will continue. Something that occurred mid-season in Season 2, will pop up again next season. (Two possible incidents come to mind: the birth of Rachel’s baby and the shooting of Stan.)
My wish for Terry O’Quinn to return is also addressed. “Joe is integral to the McGarrett mythology,” states Elwood Reid.

WAS THAT SHELBURNE? \| Just to be clear, connect the dots and put to rest any worries about semantics, Joe did in fact lead McGarrett to the mysterious Shelburne – whom a shocked Steve greeted with a “Mom?” “The identity of Shelburne will be revealed [in the final five seconds],” Lenkov confirmed. And make no mistake, we’ll get to witness all of the most unexpected reunion. “[Next season] really picks up a second later,” says Lenkov. WHO WILL CHIN HO LOSE? \| Delano made Chin Ho choose between rushing to rescue wife Malia, who was being held at gunpoint at home, or cousin Kono, bound and about to be pitched over the side of a boat. Chin Ho ran to his missus, who nonetheless seemed very much worse for the wear, while Kono was last seen flailing and falling deeper and deeper into the Pacific. Without revealing either woman’s fate, Lenkov said that in Season 3, “We’re going to break [Chin Ho] and have him get rebuilt up again. When we found him he was already broken, but you never got to see him when he was a strong cop and got everything taken away from him. Now we want to see things taken away from him and see how he deals with it. We’re very deliberately altering his character.” And Daniel Dae Kim’s take on the sad Sophie’s Choice? “He loved the challenge, emotionally,” Lenvok shared, “with what he was going to do with his character.” WHAT’S NEXT FOR DANNO? \| Detective Williams got off easy compared to everyone else in the finale, save for some domestic strife between him and ex-wife Rachel, who is threatening to move Grace to Las Vegas. Nonetheless, “There’s a lot of wood on the fire in the finale [that's] going to give us a lot of stuff to play” in Season 3, said Reid. “There’s some stuff that played during the middle of the season, particularly with Danny, that’s going to come back next season too.” HAVE WE – AND MCGARRETT – SEEN THE LAST OF JOE WHITE? \| Though Joe vanished into thin air before taking McGarrett to Shelburne, and despite Terry O’Quinn’s 666 Park Avenue pilot landing on ABC’s fall schedule, the Five-0 bosses are hoping for the occasional encore. “[Terry] is open to it, which we were all very surprised and excited about,” said Lenkov. “We love him, and hopefully he’ll come back.” After all, as Reid noted, “Joe is integral to the McGarrett mythology.” (With reporting by Vlada Gelman)

Hawaii Five-0 Season Finale Lives Up to Expectations

“Lots of personal storylines and big explosions”? Check.

“Mind blowing cliffhanger”? Check.

“Huge twist with Shelburne”? Check.

“Bigger and more exciting than last year’s finale?” Check.

“Ua Hala” delivers on all fronts! Watching the promo clips, reading the teaser articles and double-guessing tweets, I wondered how on earth all that plotting and action could possibly fit into a mere 40+ minutes. As it turns out, the team did a marvelous job of weaving all the individual storylines together, while sacrificing little in the telling thereof (although the jump from Kono returning home to Chin’s second encounter with Delano threw me off for a moment, and Mrs. Fryer — who is mentioned in the cast list — is also notably absent).

Of course there is room for another classic cargument — one of the best to date — that ties in cleverly to Steve’s recent disappearance (that Danny is still very peeved about), as well as to Danny’s latest predicament and their bromance. I just love how these two love each other!

Danny: You mean you want me to share?
Steve: Yes.
Danny: Share, like you do? Okay, I can do this, what am I doing, I’m gonna write you a letter and I’m gonna explain nothing and I’m gonna take off for a couple of weeks, okay?
Steve: First of all, I had to do that on my own, okay? You know that I had to do that.
Danny: Hold on.
Steve: What?
Danny: There is no ‘my own’ in a friendship. There is no ‘my own,’ your problems become my problems.

Despite the reveal of Shelburne, this is by no means a McGarrett-centric episode. All cast members, Max and Malia included, contribute richly to the story.

As the initial killing of one of their own is just the tip of the iceberg, it’s good that we were forewarned not to relax, otherwise I think I would have been totally blindsided by the subsequent developments.

And as for the identity of Shelburne… I can’t help but think that many fans (myself included) are very satisfied with the validation that no plot is too crazy for Hollywood (or in this case, Honolulu)!

All joking aside, you do wonder what impact this reveal will have on Steve, who is obviously reeling with shock when that door opens.

In conclusion, episode 2.23 is certainly a worthy season closer and lives up to expectations! Peter Lenkov set out to surprise, intrigue and engage us and he can consider his mission accomplished. The road is open to other twists and turns in Season 3 and September can’t come around soon enough.
