Latest “Three Rivers” Casting and Shooting News
Four-time Emmy winning actress Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives, The Practice) has been cast in Three Rivers opposite Alex O’Loughlin and will be taking on the role of Dr. Sophia Jordan, head of surgery at Three Rivers Hospital. This is the role portrayed by Julia Ormond in the pilot episode of the show.
According to TVOvermind, Dr. Andy Yablonski (Alex O’Loughlin) and Dr. Miranda Foster (Katherine Moennig), who are a little too passionate for the patients in the show, will butt heads with Dr. Jordan.
There is no news yet on the recasting of Joaquim de Almeida’s role of “villainous hospital administrator”, but TV Over Mind does also mention Amber Clayton’s recurring role of Andy’s love interest/transplant organ liaison and is positive about the casting of Alfre Woodard:
I had a chance to watch the original pilot of the drama premiering October 4th at 9/8c on CBS a little while back, and this casting of Alfre Woodard gives a little more in the project. Julia Ormond was particularly bland and unresponsive in the pilot and did not look like she wanted to be there. The pilot as a whole was interesting but did not captivate me the way I would like, which is something that hopefully will be fixed by the re-shoot of the episode in the styling and writing of the medical drama.
Rob Owen reports in his Tuned In Journal that Alex O’Loughlin and Katherine Moennig are expected back in Pittsburgh in August to do some more location shooting:
Note to rabid O’Loughlin fans: If I knew when and where filming will take place, I would include that information. I do not. If it becomes available, I will post it.

Wow – it was said that Julia Ormond looked like she didn’t want to be there in the original shoot – what the heck is wrong with HER?!
Anyway, I know the show is going to be great – hey, it’s Alex – and I like Alfre Woodard very much. I am glad to see her added to the cast.
Thanks. This is awesome and wonderful news. Three Rivers has an award winning cast, very young, talented and so charming.
I can certainly see myself driving to Pittsburgh for a small glimpse of Alex! Don’t tempt me!!!
This is great news! She is an awesome actress and will certainly add well to an already outstanding cast..
