AOLR Weekly Wrap-up #126

Hawaii Five-0 Updates
  • Peter Lenkov tweeted that James Caan will appear in episode 2.18 — this means that last week’s ambiguous tweet by CBS referred to the episode filming in February and not airing in February.
  • Shooting is currently underway for episode 2.16, involving a diplomatic incident with Russian nationals. On Friday night, they began filming the charity dinner — a black-tie event — where the case at the heart of the episode starts.
  • Updated: Channel Ten’s programming kicked off today for the 2012 ratings season, and Hawaii Five-0 will be back on Monday, January 30th as will NCIS: LA! Lots of viewers have been requesting the show’s return, so it looks like they’re listening to the fans. Thanks to McPhee for the info!
  • TVbytheNumbers has posted color-coded maps with Hawaii Five-0 and Castle ratings by TV markets for those who enjoy analyzing stats.
  • Recent videos:
  • Recent photos:
    • Pic of Scott with visitors from Florida
    • Pic of Scott and Alex BTS at the 2.16 fundraiser, and an earlier one of Scott - thank you, Lauren!
    • Daniel also posted a picture of his costume for Friday night’s filming, @monimoob also shared some photos on Twitpic and another was posted by Richard T. Jones - thanks!
    • I reorganized the CBS BTS album - many more photos from various episodes were posted on Daniel’s Facebook, so we owe a big thanks to DDK, Erika and CBS for these!
    • Screencaps of 2.14
Hawaii Five-0 Articles
  • In a recent interview, Len Wiseman tells Collider why he hasn’t been back to direct another episode of Hawaii Five-0 and how it was to shoot the amazing pilot (almost two years ago now):

You did a great job with the pilot of Hawaii 5-0. Have you been asked to direct any other pilots, or would you like to do any more episodes of the show?

WISEMAN: I stay on email constantly with those guys, going back and forth about coming back to do one. It’s simply just been a time thing. I’ve been in a cave. Between Underworld and Total Recall, it’s just been very, very busy.

What did you think of the time frame of TV?

WISEMAN: It was just such a bizarre experience for me. I had never done that before and dove right in, and didn’t exactly know what to expect. It was really fast-paced. I thought, “I’ll just tailor my shooting style to fit the television schedule,” and I don’t know how to do that. I realized that your brain only shoots one way. You realize that it’s not about changing. It’s just about hauling ass and doing what you do, much, much, much faster. It was quite intense, but I thought it was a fun result. It’s done amazingly well. I’m very, very happy for the whole team involved. It’s been nice to see it take off like it has.

  • In case you missed this in my recap post, Michael Ausiello (and Peter Lenkov) gets us excited — and anxious — about the season finale:

Question: I was wondering if you had any scoops on Hawaii Five-0? —Samantha
Ausiello: Is it too early to start teasing the season finale? No? Splendid. The ongoing Shelburne mystery that seemingly concluded in this Monday’s episode will rear its ugly head again in May. “It’s not over yet,” reveals exec producer Peter Lenkov. “It’s going to wrap up at the end of [the season] and it’s a pretty significant turn in our show.”

  • More scoop from TV|Line, this time about a February episode involving Chin:

Hawaii Five-0 | Checking my Twitter feed again, @reikoafans wants to know when might next see Reiko Aylesworth on the show. A Five-0 rep assures me that while Chin and Malia are quite happily married, Aylesworth’s next visit has not yet been booked. Which isn’t to say Malia is far from Chin’s thoughts while at work. In fact, there’s a February sweeps episode where Chin nearly triggers an international incident involving a possible radiological weapon – getting in big trouble with the lieutenant governor – all while struggling to think of something special to get his wife for Valentine’s Day. How about just staying out of prison, pal?

  • Photos of Shane Victorino on the Hawaii Five-0 set were first tweeted last November, so it’s not a complete surprise to hear that he will be on the show. The Maui News provides more details:

“Pumped to be part of Hawaii Five-0 cast for upcoming episode! Will make Hawaii proud,” the Philadelphia Phillies outfielder from Wailuku posted on his Twitter page on Thursday, adding thanks to executive producer Peter Lenkov and CBS.Victorino will be part of a Jan. 31 taping, according to Lisa Young, a director of Victorino’s foundation, who said the 31-year-old will portray a character, not himself.

Lenkov tweeted that Victorino will be part of episode 17 this season. The show airs on Mondays, at 9 p.m. in Hawaii. Episode 14 aired this week, but the broadcasts three days from today, and on Jan. 30, will be reruns.

Daniel Dae Kim, who portrays Chin Ho Kelly on the show, tweeted to Victorino: “Bro, I’m so psyched – for both Philly and the 808!”

Other Alex Updates
  • Aussie magazine CLEO recently brought together a gaggle of female celebs to decide on which hunks to include in the mag’s Bachelor of the Year lineup for 2012. Over lunch at a Sydney restaurant, the lucky ladies perused booklets filled with pictures of predominantly shirtless candidates and scored them — so shallow, but fun! According to a Sydney Confidential article in The Daily Telegraph, ”Early indications suggest Alex O’Loughlin, Liam Hemsworth and Adam Scott will be in the top 50.” The guys who made the Top 50 will be revealed in the April issue of CLEO, which will be out in Oz on March 19.

I wish you all a wonderful week!
