Alex O’Loughlin: “My True Fans, Emphasis on the Word True, Will Follow Me Wherever I Go”

When ETonline explain that they think Alex O’Loughlin fans will be disappointed with his role on Criminal Minds,  Alex is quite confident about what his true fans will do.  About Three Rivers, he says, “It is very different than Moonlight. It is not about vampires, but there are equal amounts of blood as my last show.”

On the subject of  being more popular himself than Moonlight, Alex responds, “That is lovely to hear. It is always funny when you hear things like that, because what do you say besides thank you? I don’t get it. I get up in the morning and my hair is all hanging in my face and poking up on one side, I need to shave and I look older than I am. When I stagger into the kitchen to get my breakfast, I don’t think, ‘Oh, look at that handsome guy. Look at that talented special creature.’”

Hot Cuppa TV Has New Audio Interview with Alex O’Loughlin

Kate O’Hare (Zap2It  Hot Cuppa TV blog) got to talk with Alex O’Loughlin on the phone recently and included a link of the recording in her article:

Alex O’Loughlin Emerges from the ‘Moonlight’ to take on ‘Criminal Minds’

Highlights from the audio interview include a comparison between two villains, i.e. the rigid and OCD – but nevertheless sympathetic – Vincent in Criminal Minds to Michael Carter (“The guy was a little deranged”) in FEED (“not a very good movie”), and the news that when Three Rivers gets picked up, the show will be made in LA and not in Pittsburgh. When asked what he learned from Moonlight, Alex immediately responds, “How to survive working 90 hours a week,” and then adds more seriously, “How to be a leading man as well on a tv show”.

In case you have trouble playing the interview on Kate’s site, I’m including the link to the audio file here.

Alex O’Loughlin on ‘Moonlight’: “I Look Back at it with a Broken Heart for the Most Part”

The Boston Herald has published an interview today with Alex O’Loughlin. Although Criminal Minds and Three Rivers are also discussed, it’s what Alex has to say about  Moonlight that makes the article truly interesting:

“I look back at it with a broken heart for the most part. I put every part of me into that show. I was fighting for it from every angle and I was there from the very beginning.”

“(Executive producer) Joel Silver called me right before Christmas. ‘Alex, we’re making the movie. You in?’ ‘Well, sure.’ He hung up, and I haven’t heard from him since. I don’t know what the answer to that is. I don’t know.”

“It feels to me that ‘Moonlight’s’ disappearing out of my grasp. It’s sad, but I’m so glad to have been a part of it.”

Criminal Minds Victim Talks About Working with Alex O’Loughlin

jillklopp Oklahoma native Jill Klopp plays a real estate agent who gets stabbed by Alex O’Loughlin’s character, the serial killer Vincent, in tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds. In an article in The Edmond Sun, Jill shares her experiences on the set of the show with the readers.

Edmondite Makes Prime Time Debut

EDMOND —  A former Edmond resident will make her debut on prime time television tonight as a co-star on a “Criminal Minds” episode, “The Big Wheel,” which starts at 8 p.m. central time on the CBS network.

Jill Klopp, an Edmond North High School and University of Oklahoma graduate, will die on screen as Michelle Watson, a real estate agent stabbed to death by one of her clients.

“It’s a crime drama on CBS where the detectives try to catch the killer through psychological experiments,” she said. “They try to get into the minds of the killer.”

Steve Klopp, Jill’s father, said he and his wife, Jody, were a bit shocked by the visual images of their daughter in the clutches of a killer when they saw the trailer at the end of last week’s episode of “Criminal Minds.”

He said he is proud of his daughter’s accomplishments and appreciates both the “real Jill” and the persona she will play on television.

Jill Klopp said the on-screen dying process wasn’t what she expected.

“It’s much more simple than I envisioned, but it was cool,” she said. “You run the stab scene a few times without any blood or gore.”

She said for the final take she had a blood packet in hand which she pressed down on when she felt the pressure of the fake knife through a protective corset she wore. She also had to bite down on a blood packet in her mouth.

“It’s a really sweet syrup and it’s gross,” Klopp said.

She said she really enjoyed working with her “killer,” Alex O’Loughlin, who has guest starred in multiple television series, including “The Shield” and “Moonlight.” He also has had roles in several movies, including “August Rush” and “The Invisible.” Klopp said she’d like to follow the same career path as O’Loughlin.
