Summary:
After avoiding Beth since their encounter in the desert, Mick teams up with her to stop a 200-year-old vampire who was turned as a teenager from killing incessantly.
Alex O’Loughlin on this episode:
“This one’s not my favorite. I felt like I could have cared about the kid more. I’m not sure if as the lead or the voice of the show I should be this honest, but there was just something missing. I’m not entirely sure why. It was more of a ‘vampire-of-the-week’ episode to me. People ask about this show being a purist of the genre, but I’m a purist of drama and its importance has been burned into my frontal lobe. Drama is life with the boring bits cut out and that episode was a little pedestrian. It didn’t feel like an organic Mick/Beth storyline.”

Memorable Quotes:
Beth:
So, what are you doing here?
Mick:
The same, blood… work. I have to get some blood work done.
+++
+++
Josef:
Well, a lot has changed in 400 years.
Mick:
Yeah, there’s no regular cathouses anymore.
Josef:
Yeah, another casualty of the digital age. Categories: blonds, Asians, busty, mature, equestrian. Choice, choice, choice. It’s very efficient, very… American.
Mick:
You sound almost nostalgic.
Josef:
I wonder what happened to the good old days of four girls on the corner undercutting each other?
+++
+++
Mick:
Everybody’s gone now, you can get up. What are you doing here?
Beth:
I was just about to ask you the same thing.
Mick:
No, the person hiding around the corner in the other room gets to go first.
+++
+++
Mick:
He’s a kid. Maybe he’s sixteen years old.
Beth:
Sixteen?
Mick:
Well, going on two hundred, I saw a picture.
Beth:
Awkward age.
Mick:
You’re not kidding. Do you know boys his age think about sex 20 times a minute, that’s a scientific fact. Times two centuries, that’s gotta take a toll.
Beth:
Shouldn’t we tell the police?
Mick:
Well, he’s a vampire, it’s probably healthier all around if we don’t.
+++
+++
Beth:
So, how does it work anyway?
Mick:
What?
Beth:
Just, you know, the sex thing.
Mick:
Your parents never told you?
Beth:
They somehow skipped the part involving vampires. Vampires and humans, I mean. [At Mick's stare] Oh, I’m talking totally hypothetically, believe me.
