Storyline:
“Ha’i’ole*” – While McGarrett sits in prison awaiting trial for the murder of the governor, Danny brings him a surprise visitor to help clear him. Meanwhile, Kono is suspended from the force, pending an internal investigation.

*Ha’i’ole is Hawaiian for “Unbreakable”

Trivia:
  • Filming for this episode began on Monday, July 11, 2011 after an early morning traditional Hawaiian ceremony to bless the start of Season 2 production. The blessing took place at the sound stage in the old Honolulu Advertiser building with the cast, crew and producers present.
  • The floor of the HQ set where the ceremony took place had just been painted and wasn’t completely dry, so those present were asked to wear bootees over their shoes. Grace Park chose to go barefoot and Alex O’Loughlin wore his flip-flops.
  • James Marsters, much loved as villain Victor Hesse, said in a Q&A session at an expo in Sydney that “fighting Alex is much more complicated than anything I did on Buffy. Alex is hands on and trained to hurt, I love the guy.”
  • Senator Mike Gabbard’s house in Kalaeloa was used as Max Bergman’s house. The senator also made a cameo appearance at the governor’s funeral as her widower.

Memorable Quotes:
Steve:
You’re not wearing a tie. It suits you.
Danny:
No, I’m not wearing a tie because there’s no dress code for an out-of-work cop.
+++
+++
Joe:
[To McGarrett] Let me guess: the governor had it coming.
+++
+++
Danny:
So, what’s up, buddy? You’ve been ducking me for about a week now.
Chin Ho:
Been a little busy.
Danny:
Busy? What are you doing, putting more of your friends behind bars?
+++
+++
Joe:
You guys have a dossier on this Wo Fat character?
Danny:
Jenna Kaye does. She used to work for the CIA.
Joe:
Well, I’ll try not to hold that against her.
+++
+++
Danny:
He trained Steve.
Chin Ho:
Oh – so it’s his fault?
+++
+++
Jenna:
Where are you going? McGarrett needs our help.
Joe:
He’ll be fine.
Jenna:
What do you mean he’ll be fine? How do you know?
Joe:
I trained him.
+++
+++
Steve;
I got shanked in prison, Max.
Max:
Oh. So then you didn’t come by that uniform in a legal manner?
Steve:
You don’t watch the news, do you?
Max:
I try not to. It’s very scary.
+++
+++
Danny:
What the hell is the matter with you, huh? What’s the matter with you? Breaking out of jail? Taking out a cop? Have you lost your mind?
Steve:
Why are you yelling at me?
+++
+++
Danny:
[To Max] Hey. Zip it, Kermit.
+++
+++
Steve:
You are HPD, Chin. You remember?
Danny:
Just because the badge says HPD, doesn’t mean that I’m not Five-0. You know that.
+++
+++
Danny:
Please, listen to me. Is there any way I can talk you out of this?
Steve:
Has it ever worked before, Danny?
Danny:
No.
Steve:
Okay, so, let’s go, yeah?
+++
+++
Steve:
You know, I could be wrong — it’s rare — but you don’t look happy.
Danny:
I am happy on the inside.
+++
+++
Max:
[To Chin about the Camaro] I may even cash in on my prehistoric fossil collection and put a down payment on one of these bad boys.
+++
+++
Chin Ho:
You’d better be right about this or we’re gonna be sharing a cell with McGarrett.
Danny:
I call top bunk.
+++
+++
Chin Ho:
You didn’t happen to bring a screwdriver, did you?
Danny:
I left it at home with my hammer.
+++
+++
Steve:
Danny, you ready?
Danny:
No!
Steve:
Good, come on!
+++
+++
Kamekona:
If you’re looking for work, I could use a pretty hostess in my new shrimp truck.
Kono:
Really?
Max:
I’m allergic to shrimp.
Kamekona:
You gotta try my shrimp-flavored tofu.
Kono:
That sounds disgusting.
Kamekona:
You just lost a job.

    It was a nice episode, it has many funny moments. I have a question Do the original series did it have a lot of funny moments also or it was just pure drama and action/I ask this beacues I dotn want this new Hawaii 5-0 backfire at ratings because the series is supposed to be a drama series not a comedy TV show and people may not star to like it. I mean I know is good to have its funny moments but I hope the executive producer does not make a habit in a way the series will become a funny tv show when it is pure action.

    I just seen the video of the bloopers including on the DVD, wow that was so funny. Alex always joking with everyone and making fun so hilarious. He is just so funny himself and I love it. I have a question about the DVD on AMazon. I read some reviews there on that site and it says that in teh Amazon description it says the DVD only comes with 1 DVD and no extras. I wonder if anyone who hd purchased the DVD already has had the same problem. I want to buy tghe DVD but I want to make sure before hand that I got all the DVD and the extras when I have the DVD in my hands.

    All I can say is A-MAZING!!!! I loved this quote from the PopStar review: “Frankly I was a Little Tired after watching it because you run the whole way with Steve, physically and emotionally.” I couldn’t agree more. This episode had me on the edge of my seat from the opening credits….and the end scene, LITERALLY made my jaw drop! :shock: Jenna, Jenna, what are you doing?! :scratchhead:

    I love the addition of Terry O’Quinn and think he’s going to be a great addition. Hope they keep him around because I’d love to learn more about his past with John McGarrett and the relationship with Steve. I also liked the way the tied up some loose ends with everyone although we still dont’ know what will happen with Kono. Alex looked incredible (but how could he NOT?). :happy:

    All in all, Season 2 is off to an amazing start! :yahoo:

    I finally saw it last night! Loved it. And gasped at the ending. It was hard staying away from all H50 blogs and postings yesterday since I couldn’t watch it Monday night when it aired. :)

  5. Raceyt66 says:

    I think there were several times I found myself holding my breathe having to remind myself to breathe.. It certainly was at a running pace. If this ep is anything to go by season 2 is going to be even better than one if that is possible.. Im still trying to take it all in especially the ending..

  6. pixiegold says:

    It’s finally back! :cheerldr: Great recap. :thankyou: Overall I really liked this episode, it certainly delivered. I was truly shocked by Jenna and Wo Fat. :o I was hoping they didn’t catch Wo Fat, Steve really needs that type of foil. Can hardly wait for next week.
    :yahoo: :happy: :yahoo:

    I loved, loved, loved the show last night! :celebrate: It was great fun, suspense and the ending left me talking to myself! I loved Danno’s “Zip it Kermit” :happy: I’m thinking Season 2 might be a whole lot better than Season 1, and I loved season 1. Alex is looking so comfortable now as McGarret – I’m just so happy to see him again every week. :danno:

  8. iluvmickstjohn says:

    :happy: Huge action is right! The opener for Season 2 was mind-blowing! I’m still trying to sort it all out. It was fast, fantastic and flawless. The entire cast was amazing. As a viewer, I laughed, was both shocked and scared, relieved and stunned, surprised and angered. What more can I say? If the upcoming episodes are anything like the first show, WOW. We have a lot of great entertainment coming our way.

    Thanks, Five-0 for delivering such a great show!!

    :love3:
