‘Three Rivers’ Set Visit Follow-Up from Rob Owen
Today Rob Owen published a long follow-up article for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about Alex O’Loughlin’s new TV show Three Rivers with input from the TCA summer tour set visit and press conference that took place last Friday.
He gives more insight into the set design and the origins of the series. Owen also mentions that it is “probably a good thing” that a new pilot episode is now in production as the initial version shot in Pittsburgh in the spring evoked some harsh criticism. USA Today used the adjectives “shoddy and incompetent” and TV Guide called the idea of having someone die in the show each episode an outright “downer”.
Carol Barbee, also present at the press conference, confirmed that they will be shooting at the city’s inclines, as she mentioned in a previous interview with Rob Owen. “We’re going to find places where you really get to see Pittsburgh,” she said. Alex O’Loughlin and Kate Moennig will also return to the city to shoot scenes on August 17th.
Alfre Woodard, a multiple award-winning actress and a very recent addition to the cast, teased Alex about his Aussie accent by saying, “Let me just say how freaked I am to hear you talk like an Aussie. What is he doing faking over here? We just met on Monday. And he’s such a believable Pittsburgh boy.”

Wow – “shoddy and incompetent”?! That IS rough. Anyway, I am sure that the new pilot and the show are going to be wonderful.
I love what Alfre Woodard had to say about Alex – very cute. I am glad to see her added to the cast – I like her work very much.
The new and ultra modern set in Three Rivers looks fantastic. I can hardly wait to watch Alex in Three Rivers very soon. Thanks MizzoH for the article and photo.
