This series is shaping up not just with the crack writing team but also with a great cast around O’Loughlin and Caan such as Taryn Manning who will play Mary Ann McGarrett, Steve’s sister, and Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim, will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly.
Oh yeah, Len Wiseman will direct the pilot episode, which is awesome!!
With the casting rounded out and show runners Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Peter Lenkov (CSI: NY) moving ahead full steam with the pilot, this could be one great new remake.
All great news for a great cast! I used to eat up the old Hawaii Five-O as a kid. (Oh man, did I just carbon-date myself?)
One of the most anticipated new network series coming down the pipe from CBS is their remade “Hawaii Five-O” effort.
If ‘Hawaii Five-O’ is not picked up, it’ll be the biggest shock of the year. It’s this pilot season’s ‘NCIS: Los Angeles.’
Finally, a thought about this casting. ‘Hawaii Five-O’ will be a very attractive show for those who like good looking, buff guys. Caan’s cocky personality and bodacious bod will complement the equally eye-candyesque Alex O’Loughlin.
It’s likely that the new ‘Hawaii Five-0′ will be like CBS’s recent spinoff hit, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles.’ Spinoff, remake… same difference. They have the title, they have a guy from ‘Lost,’ and now they have hearth throb O’Loughlin. CBS will then give it a good spot on the schedule, and — as Sheldon would say — bazinga, another hit!
Hawaii Five-O has been out of the public (and Hawaiian) eye for such a long time that the new series can be seen as an homage, not as besmirching an escapist icon.

I can’t wait! But in addition to good looks, Alex O’Loughlin can really act. Eyecandy is ok but a successful series has to have talent and O’Loughlin has that in spades! A great cast and superb writers could make for a really great show. Now, let’s hope CBS gives the show a decent time slot!

The extremely talented young cast, the writers, producers and director will absolutely create a very successful new crime drama for CBS for the 2010-2011 television season.
