The plot thickens! Our friends at Spoiler TV published the casting call for the Hawaii Five-0 pilot and it looks like CBS will be moving forward with Steve McGarrett after all and not Chris McGarrett, which was initially the name of the lead character when Ed Bernero was still on board the revival project. Steve McGarrett’s back story is definitely my cup of tea. US Navy SEALs are the elite of the elite and undergo the most rigorous training known to man. They’re intelligent, highly skilled, think on their feet and don’t take no for an answer. I love him already
Hooyah, CBS!

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote the pilot with Peter Lenkov, had the following to share with IGN about the updated potential series:
Discussing their take on the project, Orci said, “I think the idea is to update it in a way that is still the comfort food that it always was, but almost a little Miami Vice too.”
Added Kurtzman, “Peter Lenkov is one of the CSI: New York showrunners. He brought the idea to us. He pitched us an extraordinary pilot. We were really taken with it. It’s not what we expected. There’s a really emotional component to it.”
Kurtzman added that they saw Hawaii Five-O as an opportunity to, “Take something with a preconceived idea and turn it on its ear, and you have something really compelling.”
Orci said they wanted to make Hawaii Five-O, “Pure action and a procedural, but with some genuine character stuff in there. We hope it’s a mix that you don’t see often.”
Allison Winn Scotch, who interviewed Alex O’Loughlin by phone on January 21st for an article in American Airlines’ in flight magazine American Way (April 1st issue), tweeted that she did ask about Hawaii Five-0, but that he couldn’t comment. He did share that “no-one’s taken him out to dinner yet”, so it sounds like we will just have to exercise some more patience until we hear an official confirmation or denial
Thanks to TalkinToU for this tidbit!

I would love for him to take this role. I confess I want to see him weekly again, but I also think he would be outstanding!
Thanks Mizz!
This sounds really good, so much excitement, it sounds like the writers know what they are doing, I hope it goes through and Alex gets the role!
Thank you mizzoH, I feel so much better now, after reading all the negative posts I was getting worried!
Thank you MizzoH. Alex O’Loughlin is a versatile and brilliant actor, who is made for the role of detective McGarrett on Hawaii Five O. This will be a long running and successful crime drama for Alex on CBS. I just wish that CBS will schedule this show on a week night, preferably from Monday through Thursday nights. I can hardly wait to see Alex on my weekly television again.
My crystal ball says that there’s a dinner in Alex’s future.
This has got it all, man. So many avenues to explore. It’s up to date, it’s tense, there’s opportunity for romance and pathos, and a lot of hot action. God, I do hope they take Alex out to dinner!!
Goth
Well they sure are teasing us aren’t they? The background of this series sounds fantastic! If he decides to take on this role I think it could be the role that will finally put him in the mainstream. This show will be appealing to whole families – men and women alike. After a 30 year absence, not a lot of people are going to identify with the old series other than the catchy and still appealing theme song. I hope they keep that.
I can understand Alex taking his time and weighing his options. Thanks for the informative article Mizzoh! I MISS HIM!!
