Updated – According to the New York Post, Scott Caan suffered a substantial knee injury performing a stunt while shooting an episode of Hawaii Five-0 last week in Oahu. The paper reports that he has since undergone surgery in LA as an outpatient for what is believed to have been a torn ligament, an affliction common among athletes.
Scott is apparently not expected to be away from the set long and production continues unimpeded in Hawaii after realignment of shooting schedules. Filming for episode 104 is currently in progress and the actor’s injury will be incorporated into Danny Williams’ story line.
“Partnering with someone like Steve McGarrett, you’re bound to get a few bumps and bruises,” a CBS spokesperson quipped.
E! Online shares the following Danno-McGarrett scenario:
In the post-injury ep, the two visit the doctor’s office together and when asked if he’s suffered any trauma lately, Mr. “Book ‘Em” responds: “I’ve got a partner—this guy is a physical injury!”
The action-packed show requires its lead actors to be in peak physical condition. As Alex O’Loughlin told HollywoodNews.com back in March, “I’ve been getting thrown out of tanks, beaten around the island of Oahu. If I took my shirt off, I look like a beaten piece of beef.”
We wish Scott a speedy and full recovery!
UPDATE: EW reports that Scott is expected back on set on his birthday, i.e. August 23rd!

Happy birthday and best wishes Scott!
Thank you Mizz. I hope Scott feels better really soon. The cast needs Danno on Hawaii Five-0. Best wishes and good luck to Scott.
Aw. It’s surprising more injuries of this type don’t occur considering the very physical nature of this and other shows. Here’s hoping he has a speedy recovery and isn’t in too much pain.
I’m glad that Scott is ok and that the surgery went well. He is exceptional as Danny Williams and I’m sure will be happy to be back on set and shooting again soon. The physicality of these roles will definitely challenge the actors. I too wish him a speedy recovery!
AWWWWWWWW, poor baby!
And this just days before his birthday!
Hope he recovers quickly and will be back on the set soon!
Beterschap! (speedy recovery)
