Praise for Three Rivers – “The Luckiest Man”

That Mandy Patinkin left an indelible impression with his performance in The Luckiest Man is quite possibly an understatement.

Fans and non-fans alike are full of praise for how he brought ALS patient Victor to life (and ultimately granted him a dignified death) and many viewers agree that his portrayal in episode 7 of Three Rivers is Emmy worthy. The entire cast, including Alex O’Loughlin, did an amazing job.

If you haven’t seen the episode, view the clip from a powerful scene posted by Khunsaow and judge for yourself.

Eric S. posted a compelling review on Nick C.’s blog (the same Nick C. who published prematurely a few weeks ago that Three Rivers had been canceled).

Here’s an excerpt:

I again would ask that anyone reading this who has not seen this episode of “Three Rivers” please view it.  You will be treated to one of the finest acting performances I have ever seen.  And the greatness didn’t stop with Mandy, Alex O’Loughlin shined as well as rest of the “Three Rivers” cast.  This is one of those episodes that you will look at many years down the road and remember it.  Some shows are forgettable, some are memorable, this is the latter, and is one which I certainly felt an impact from that will stay with me.  I hope you give it a chance and will agree that this was worth watching, or that at the very least Mandy Patinkin deserves nothing short of an emmy for his performance in this episode.  He truly was phenomenal.

I thought this episode was the best yet. Mandy’s performance as an ALS patient should receive an Emmy nomination! I am also pleased to see that more viewers are tuning into the show and I hope this continues for Alex and Three Rivers!

Thank you MizzoH for this fantastic and great review of Three Rivers’ latest episode The Luckiest Man. I’ve already posted my comment at the link. Mandy Patinkin deserves an Emmy Award for his brilliant performance as Victor. Alex O’Louglin and his cast all deserve an Emmy and the PCA for their weekly outstanding performances on Three Rivers.
