Moving on with Alex O’Loughlin

feedintvw091Although the hot topic of the past week has undoubtedly been Criminal Minds, Alex O’Loughlin has been opening up on a lot of different matters lately in interviews. It’s like he has consciously made a decision to not hold anything back any longer or he’s simply making up for lost time. Either way, his candidness is refreshing! I love this Alex we’ve been seeing and I hope he’ll continue in the same vein (sorry, I couldn’t resist ;-)).

His recent interviews also contain clear messages for his fans. The common theme is putting Moonlight behind us and moving forward and it’s also about being grateful for fan support:

“[Three Rivers is] absolutely dynamic enough. I plead with my Moonlight fans to give this show a chance if they let me give it a chance.” — TV Guide, April 28, 2009

“I can’t do Moonlight again — it’s finished. The bottom line is that my true fans will follow me where I go.” — TV Guide, April 28, 2009

“It feels to me that ‘Moonlight’s’ disappearing out of my grasp. It’s sad, but I’m so glad to have been a part of it.” — Boston Herald, April 29, 2009

“I don’t want to play the same role, every role I get. The other thing is, my true fans, emphasis on the word true, will follow me wherever I go.” — ETonline, April 29, 2009

“Yeah, yeah, [my fans are] very consistent in their passion, which is lovely, I love them for it, so much. I hope they follow me into my career, and my next project.  I mean, every character is not going to be Mick St. John.  It’s just not.” — MyTakeOnTV, April 29, 2009

“I think my fans, because they’re so, comprehensive, with their study of me, and their research of me, I think that they’re probably starting to get to know me a bit now, as well, and if they’re still my fans, it means they still like me. If they still like me, hopefully they’re going to like what I like in the characters that I choose.” — MyTakeOnTV, April 29, 2009

“Right, so hopefully, [my fans are] going to come to love the characters that I love, the way I love them for the same reasons, or similar reasons.  I want to take them all with me, I want to take them on this journey and show them what I’m learning and what I’m loving, and they’re great people, too. ” — MyTakeOnTV, April 29, 2009

“My fans are so caring, they send me so many well wishes, and lovely cards. Beautiful paintings. It’s amazing, I’ve never experienced it before. It can be a little overwhelming, I’m just like anyone else. Can you imagine, like opening the mail, and getting 1,000 letters? It can be really weird, really bizarre.” — MyTakeOnTV, April 29, 2009

“I’m a working class kid. My appreciation for what I have in my life is great.” — TV Guide Magazine, April 15, 2009

“Also, thank you so much to all the people who tuned into my Criminal Minds episode the other night. It was a fun show to be a part of.” — Alex O’Loughlin MySpace blog, May 2, 2009

Oh, Alex! I am one of those true fans who will follow whatever Alex does – and the ones who only want to see him play Mick? Well, it is their loss. Alex is a brilliant talent and everything that he does is outstanding. He is right on the verge of being a HUGE star, and I am so thrilled and I feel so lucky to have been there from the beginning. From Man-Thing, to FEED to The Shield, to Moonlight, to Criminal Minds – and everything else Alex did – and everything that he is doing now – I love it all, I love him – and no matter what he chooses to do, I know that it will be PERFECT.
Thanks for making such a lovely list of quotes, mizz – excellent job, as always.
(Thank God for my “Alex Collection”! Alex spoiled me, and without those DVDs I would be bored as hell with TV and movies.)

Thank you very much like always for your big work mizz, I had not read yet the interview of “MyTakeOnTV, on April 29, 2009″ I finish of doing it and I left a comment with my recognition, to one of the Alex’s best interviews that I have read lately.
Very good the summary of the different interviews in which Alex speaks on his actual professional moment and where he goes, I think that he is doing a big effort to achieve that his fans understand in a best possible way, which although almost we all have met him thanks to Moonlight, which also was a wonderful and unjustly cancelled series and which we will never forget, is already a closed stage and now his way continues for other projects that he is going to develop and therefore we must follow him in this way.
It seems touching to me, how he expresses itself of us and how he feels grateful and up to overwhelmed by the constant support and pursuit that we do of everything his, demonstrates his sensibility and simplicity like person, and he always insists on remembering: that is “a guy as any other”, as if it was habitual in the world in which he moves. He’s a gorgeous man.
I only hope that the fame and the imminent success, they should not change to him.
Again my sincere congratulations for your great web site.
    Affectionate greetings.
