ABC TV’s affiliate in Honolulu, KITV, reports that the film and TV industry is already off to a great start this year in Hawaii! Currently there are 10-12 shoots taking place in the islands or scheduled to take place and the industry is expected to generate $181 million this year, with an additional $85 million coming in from the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean installment.
Hawaii Five-0 is already adding its contribution with the pilot. According to Tim Ryan, the production office has set up base at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, where the cast and crew are also presumably based. A TV series can bring in an estimated $70 million per year for the state’s economy.
