Season 2 of Hawaii Five-0 got off to a terrific start with a Sunset on the Beach premiere that drew an enormous crowd of fans last night! With a successful first season under their collective belts, the show’s stars were free to be more relaxed about the festive kick-off in Waikiki this year.
A rested Alex O’Loughlin, who had spent the day “kinda sleeping and hanging with my dog”, was the last to arrive on the red carpet and excited at being among “10,000 of my closest friends”.
He told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Mike Gordon, “I am thrilled to be here and what a turnout. They are great crowd. Some aren’t wearing much but that’s Hawaii, so it’s good.”
Going by the enthusiasm shown on the twitterverse, Ha’i'ole - Hawaiian for ‘unbreakable’ – is a kick-ass beginning of the new season that certainly meets expectations. Peter Lenkov clarified the title choice as follows: “‘Unbreakable’ because our family is unbreakable. They are a family and they’re not going to be broken…”
Proud of the episode, Alex said, “There are five minutes of it where there is no dialog and just action. There’s some really unconventional, dynamic television.”
In addition to Alex, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, also present at the event were Taylor Wily, Masi Oka, Terry O’Quinn, Lauren German, Teilor Grubbs and Mark Dacascos. Daniela Ruah’s appearance was a pleasant surprise to many. As Special Agent Kensi Blye, she starts filming a highly anticipated Five-0/NCIS: Los Angeles crossover episode on Monday.
Peter Lenkov, Bob Orci and CBS Television Studios’ president David Stapf were also there to support their Five-0 family.
