Hawaii Five-0: Aloha Time Period Win!

Here is excellent news for the fans who have been worried about ratings – even when there really was nothing to worry about! Although the live + same day finals have shown Hawaii Five-0 to have been trailing slightly in viewer totals this season behind Castle, the ratings for the demographic that the advertisers are interested in (i.e. adults 18-49) have been solid, certainly for our time slot.

In fact, the ratings are actually in better shape now than they were in the second half of Season 1.

You can check last season’s chart here (note that CBS did not release live + 7 numbers in the latter half of the season) against the Season 2 chart.

That aside, CBS has now released the live + 7 figures for episode 2.03 Kame’e and lo and behold:

Aloha Time Period Win

HAWAII FIVE-0 overtook “Castle” in viewers with live plus 7-day playback lift after trailing in live plus same day ratings to win its Monday 10:00 PM time period, according to Nielsen live plus 7-day ratings and live same day ratings for the week of Oct.3-Oct. 9, the third week of the season.

When live plus same day ratings were released for Monday, Oct. 3, HAWAII FIVE-0 handily beat “Castle” in adults 18-49 (3.2 vs. 2.5) but trailed the ABC drama in viewers (11.07m vs. 11.23m). With today’s release of live plus 7-day playback lift, HAWAII FIVE-0 gained +3.39 million viewers to move ahead of “Castle” (14.46m vs. 14.07m) while also gaining an additional +1.1 ratings points in adults 18-49 to increase its advantage in that key demographics (4.3 to 3.4).

For the week ending Oct. 9, HAWAII FIVE-0 was once again a top playback performer ranking fourth in viewer lift among all broadcast programs. For the third consecutive week, CBS posted the largest absolute lift in viewers (+1.89m, +17%), adults 18-49 (+0.7, +24%) and adults 25-54 (+0.8, +21%).

I’m watching it live on Monday night at 9:00 pm, recording on my DVR for enjoyment when I need an “ALEX” fix AND have the choice to watch it twice more on Saturday afternoon or evening on the Mystery Channel…..so in total I am watching each eppy at minimum 4 times each week….she can put that in her stats. I know I’m not alone in my devotion to the show and Alex. It is great TV!!

:yahoo: Thanks Mizz – I hate to admit but I was a wee bit concerned because of ratings and that stupid “bubble” article from TV Guide – I need to hang loose more

While I am a Castle fan too, I always watch 50 real time and then I rewatch on the DVR, and then I watch Castle. I wish they weren’t up against each other because I do enjoy them both so much. But I always try to have Alex’s back. Thanks for keeping things straight for us! :surfwave:

Sad to see an ‘established’ outlet such as TV Guide lose credibility like that and it was upsetting to see how it worried many fans who aren’t up-to-date on the ratings facts. That article was written by a clueless person too lazy to do proper research who only included Hawaii Five-0 in her list for added sensationalism.

Her follow-up piece should have included an apology; instead she continued to insult not just the show but now also Alex, AND the fans with her patronizing drivel. That kind of “journalism” we can all do without.

She won’t be on my Christmas card list…

Thank you for this news Mizz. I don’t pay much attention to the figures (they’re a bit over-my-head to be honest) so it’s nice to just read that Hawaii Five-0 fans have nothing to worry about !

    :cheerldr: :love3: :thankyou:

Thank you Mizz. I’m a happy camper that H50 has beaten Castle in the all important key demographic ratings, before the live plus 7-day playback every Monday night since the season premiere. Including the live plus 7-day playback, H50′s ratings have gain even more! Best wishes and good luck to the cast and crew on H50 for great successful during season 2 and hopefully season 3 next year.
    :thankyou: :cheerldr: :love3:
