Kame’e (The Hero) is fast and fun and it’s also a salute to the fearless and faceless warriors who help make the world a safer place. One aspect of Season 2 that I’m thoroughly enjoying is the great interaction between Joe White and our Super SEAL. His former CO appears to be exactly what Steve needs right now, so I’m happy that he’ll be around for a while.
Someone mentions in their review that we’re being hit over the head with Steve’s daddy issues, but it is in a good way. After all, Hawaii Five-0 has never been subtle about anything – it’s brash and bold and it brightens the week, so let’s keep it up, please!
Those getting their knickers in a twist about Lori will be relieved to know that Peter Lenkov denies the “possible love interest” angle on Twitter:
How is she a love interest? I’m baffled since we’re not writing her as one.
I believe CBS might have said “potential love interest”…
Would love for folks to just watch and not “anticipate”, [Lori] is a co worker. Catherine returns soon enough.
And Catherine, ladies, is back next week…
“Ka Me’e” was an action filled episode, and regardless of a mid-flight skydive save of a SEAL team member, or a secret viewing of a cartel takedown, perhaps reminiscent of what may have taken place overseas in a secret compound in Pakistan, I can see why this episode was called “The Hero.” SEALs like McGarrett, Joe White, and Wade Gutches (David Keith), may not like the title, but we all can agree on the fact that a hero is usually one who refuses to be recognized as such. And that is what makes us worship them, want them by our side, and glad they are on our team.
As for Kono, it’ll be interesting to see if Billy Baldwin has his way with her. I’m loving the multiple over-arcing storylines we’ve got going this season. Yes, the scene in the backroom poker den at the dry cleaners between Kono and Delano was ridiculous but that’s what makes “Hawaii Five-0″ great. Remember, silly, not stupid, is the key. “Hawaii Five-0″ doesn’t take itself too seriously and neither should we. On that note, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for “Dirty Cop Kono” next week. And who doesn’t want a Tom Sizemore/Billy Baldwin showdown, right?!
I have to admit, this episode made up for last week’s disappointment. I mean, if I spend more than half the episode with a big stupid grin of pure enjoyment on my face, that’s a good thing. If anything, “Kame’e” proved that Hawaii Five-0 knows how to bring the oomph-factor when it comes to action, and oh, Steve McGarrett can fly. Period.
Elsewhere, I was also very happy with Lori Weston this week. First, the writers turned down the “sultry sex-kitten” look/feel about 50%. She is still attractive, but she didn’t seem out of place.
Second, the skills she showed off made her one part Jenna Kaye, one pary Kono and 100% awesome as she went “Steve like” toe-to-toe with Danny in the car about marriage.
Not that there was anything really wrong with this one. Acting was top notch, writing was on par – everything should add up to a good episode. But somehow it didn’t.
Mostly I think it’s because I’m still not liking Weston much and I was not pleased to see Danny being paired up with her for a while tonight. It feels like they are trying too hard to make us like her and when I can sense that about a character, I automatically dislike them. I can usually get over it though, so I’m going to try my best. It also feels like they are giving her more airtime than Kono ever got and it’s messing with the team dynamic, and my head.
More recaps and reviews:

I dn’t know how to describe this; but if this show Hawaii 5-0) is a baby, than it surely have excellent genetic from both the father (the writers) and the mother (the cast). Hawaii Five is a VERY HEALTHY kid and growing just fine…. With Episode 4, they already took us to the saturation sense of “blowing up our mind” is going to be something we better get used to!!.. coz its not just the WAW episode One, or the diversity in Hawaii sights and heroic areal-land-sea actions.. it’s the stunning art of giving each character a personal /professional depth along with the very fascinating crime solving, all intersect in a smooth way, you can feel but can’t see it yet.. I watch Hawaii 5-0 season 2 and I feel I’m watching a very talented artist painting this amazing paint right in front of me piece by piece, letting me wondering how its going to look like and dazzles me with the unexpected outcomes….again… and again.. and … again.. congratulation for all of you… “after each episode” I stand up and bow out of respect
So much fun to read all these reviews!!!
I really enjoyed the episode Mizz.
I love the action sequences, the banter among characters, the relationship between Joe and Steve, Max’s quirks and skills, and yes I like Lori as well. The show is supposed to be entertainment and I find it very entertaining.
I will also be happy to see Catherine back.
