CBS has now picked up Hawaii Five-0 – no big surprise there, but the confirmation is wonderful nevertheless! Now we can focus our energies on when the show will premiere and in which time slot…
CBS this morning started making calls to the producers of the pilots that had been picked up to series for next season. Defenders is a go as well as Mike and Molly, Hawaii 5-0, and the Tom Selleck starrer Blue Bloods.
It’s official: CBS has picked up its remake of “Hawaii Five-0,” along with new comedy “Mike & Molly,” family cop show “Blue Bloods” (formerly “Reagan’s Law”) starring Tom Selleck and legal drama “Defenders.”
The orders represent the first wave of series pickups from CBS, whose upfront is only two days away.
CBS will try to please Alex O’Loughlin fans once more.
The network has reportedly picked up the remake of “Hawaii Five-O,” in which O’Loughlin stars and at least three other new series for the fall, says The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog.
With “Mike and Molly” being secretive CBS’ only confirmed pickup for 2010-11, there has been intense speculation about what moves CBS will make ahead of its scheduling announcement this week.
The network finally removed some of the doubt, reportedly picking up frontrunners “Hawaii 5-0? and “Defenders” as well as Tom Selleck-starrer “Blue Bloods” (formerly Reagan’s Law) for next season.
CBS has begun its march toward announcing its new fall schedule. It picked up the remake of the buzzy “Hawaii 5-O,” starring Kim as Chin Ho Kelly, and Alex O’Loughlin. The network’s been trying to connect O’Loughlin with a hit show for several years now, could this be the one?
“The original ‘Hawaii 5-0′ was a landmark television program. It was the first network series to be filmed entirely on location here and was vital to building Hawaii’s film industry,” Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann said in a statement. “The City and County of Honolulu pulled out all the stops to assist with the making of the new pilot episode because a network television series translates into significant economic development for Hawaii. We look forward to supporting the production as it goes forward into series.”
Congratulations to Alex O’Loughlin and the cast of Hawaii Five-0 – may we enjoy your screen presence for many successful seasons to come!

Ditto!! I’m a veery happy fan!!!
YESSSS! I’m sooo happy that Alex is in a show that’s in pole position for a change. Great buzz, a to-die-for-cast, a beautiful setting and a writing/producing team that’s off the charts. Hopefully there will be no recasting or reshooting of the pilot this time and only smooth sailing all the way for many seasons. You deserve it Alex, enjoy your time in the sun!
Mizz I am so happy for Alex!
