Alex O’Loughlin’s career certainly seems to be taking off like a rocket in 2009! On April 29th we’ll be treated to his guest starring role as a serial killer in an episode of “Criminal Minds”, in which he’ll presumably have significant screen time as the story will be told from the unsub’s point of view. He also signed up for a lead role as transplant surgeon Andy Yablonski in the CBS pilot “Three Rivers”. Shooting wraps in Pittsburgh this week and CBS will announce whether they’ll pick up “Three Rivers” as a show in their fall lineup on May 20th.
According to more recent reports, Alex is also either in negotiations or has already been cast (depending on the source) to star in a romantic comedy from CBS Films with Jennifer Lopez. Production starts in LA on May 11th. The feature is called “The Back-Up Plan” (formerly known as “Plan B”) and Jennifer will play Zoe, a woman who turns to artificial insemination to still the ticking of her biological clock. On the day she hears of her pregnancy (she is expecting twins), she meets Stan, the man of her dreams. And of course, the man of our dreams will be portrayed by Alex. Alex has done a romantic movie before in “Oyster Farmer”, but that had an ensemble cast. “The Back-Up Plan” is set to hit the theaters in January 2010. It will be directed by Alan Poul; Kate Angelo (“Will & Grace”) is responsible for the screenplay.

Script wise we should be in for a good time, as Kate Angelo did a great job with “Will & Grace”! It’s ALEX we’re going to be paying to see, so who else appears in the movie is secondary as far as I’m concerned ;-)!!
Strategically, I think this film is an excellent move. CBS are taking him seriously and are recognizing what they have in him. Alex gets the chance to show the rest of the world what we know he’s capable of in “Criminal Minds”, “Three Rivers” and “The Back-Up Plan”. It’s a test I’m sure he’ll ace!
Isn’t this wonderful?! Great year for Alex and us. I am not a fan of Jennifer Lopez, but Alex will shine so brightly I won’t even notice. Wow – he is going to be so busy it will be crazy! If filming begins in May for the movie, and if Three Rivers is picked up for the fall – yikes! Anyway, this is the year of ALEX!

I am proud of Alex. He takes every chance he has and makes it blossom. I am so happy for him. His performance with Jennifer will be high caliber action like his other shows. A simple idea turns into a masterpiece by him. I hope his future will be a long wonderful, exciting quest after he becomes a famous celebrity. He is so interesting.

2009 is definitely the Alex’s year mizz! The most important is that more and more peolple will discover Alex and as usual, knowing Alex is loving him. It can’t be another way…
