In their February issue, GQ Australia looks back at the Men of the Year 2011 awards at the Sydney Opera House in November 2011, labeling the moment that Jack Thompson awarded Actor of the Year to Alex O’Loughlin as “unforgettable” with Jack’s distinctive voice “arresting the entire crowd into utter silence.”

We agree with Mr. Thompson wholeheartedly!

Ohhh, GQ Australia knows what to highlight!! This is wonderful! I hadn’t “heard” what Jack said when he gave Alex the award! Yes, we absolutely agree with him!!! What a deserved honour for Alex to receive this praise from an actor he admires so much. Loving, loving man our Alex; and loving Jack, who knows who he praises. Thanks for this wonderful post, Mizz!!
I know how much Alex loves Jack so I can just imagine what a wonderful honour it would have been for Alex to have Jack present him with the award,I was lucky enough to be at the Opera House that evening and to be able to have the chance to meet Alex , I can only say what a gorgeous generous man he is
…..thanks Mizz.
Oh, Oz, how wonderful for you to have been there!! Do you know I was in Auckland, New Zealand, attending an academic event as this was happening and went to Sydney the following week? I just couldn’t believe I was so near, in a place in the world where I had never been (and probably will never visit again) and so, so near Alex and one of his most important professional moments up to now… It would have been an amazing coincidence for me if I had been in Sydney…
Thank you Mizz for the post. Alex O’Loughlin is an outstanding actor, who so richly deserves this title as Actor of the Year award.
I love this! I felt like a proud parent when he got the award. It was a great night for Alex and his fans.
We agree Clancy of the Overflow! (great movie btw) that is pure RUBBISH but that’s what makes Alex so adorable, His humility is part of the reason we love him so much.
What an honor for Alex to have the great Jack Thompson give him that award. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Jack/Skippy is one of the reasons we are blessed with Alex on our TV screen.
OK… I’m going to go dry my tears. Thanks Mizz.
