TV Week in British Columbia posted an audio clip early October taken from their interview with Alex O’Loughlin about taking on his role of Dr. Andy Yablonski in Three Rivers. The audio was most likely taped on July 31st during the TCA visit to the Three Rivers set at CBS Paramount. Because there is a lot of background chatter and to make it a little easier for non-native speakers to follow, I’ve added a transcript below.
Listen to Tube Talk Podcast – Alex O’Loughlin:
“I know these surgeons have days where they’re like, is there a God and if there is a God, where are you and what the hell — what is all this about? I try to stay in appreciation of life as much as I can anyway. I’m very lucky. Look at my life: it’s ridiculous, you know what I mean? A lot of people aren’t going to eat today.
I was hesitant to take the role because it’s so immense. Like the stories we’re about to tell. This is about life and death; every episode is about life and death. Without the death that we’re going to deal with, people don’t get to live in our show, so someone has to die. And when someone dies, it affects someone else and I’m sure all of us here had some sort of exposure to death. I’ve lost a lot of people in my life. And this is all we have. And a lot of people in this business believe that this right here, this IS the second chance. There IS nothing else after this and so there are some really big, big things I’ve had to contend with moving into this and making the commitment to being with this show.”
