THREE RIVERS

Hey everyone…..

Well, like usual I have been meaning to write you all and, like usual, not getting around to it. Before Thanksgiving….. during

Thanksgiving….after Thanksgiving! But today, I thought I better get to it…..

A lot of you probably already know this, because you guys know what’s happening in my life before I do, but today I was informed that Three Rivers would soon draw to an end.

To be honest I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

After Moonlight was canceled I needed to go away and regroup for a while. I was hesitant to engage in another show at all, even when Three Rivers was proposed, but I realized immediately how important this story was and would be. This, the story of so many different people all around the world who’s lives have somehow been affected by organ donation and transplant medicine.

I often catch myself saying things like “We’re actors! We’re not curing cancer or feeding the hungry.” (Of course referring to the fact I don’t always feel that as an actor my job is that important or relevant.) But I soon realized that Three Rivers would be a source of great comfort to those aforementioned people, providing perhaps for the first time an accurate and cathartic experience directly related to that which they all shared.

Already in this short time I have received so many beautiful letters of support and gratitude from so many of you who have lost loved ones, and also shared the gift of life with others as a result of those tragedies. And this sudden cancellation has rocked me completely.

As most of you know, through Three Rivers I was blessed to have been afforded the chance to work with the organization Donate Life America. This potential opportunity was one of the main reasons I agreed to do the show, and having only recently finished my Ambassador training I had become an official spokesperson. We have done a couple of events and some PSA’s and there has been growing excitement about the possibilities of exposure and support we at Three Rivers could provide as the show gained in numbers and strength. Well, though the news of the show is heartbreaking I view it as nothing more than a temporary setback in the work I plan to do with Donate Life America. For me this is just the beginning of what I hope to be a long relationship.

To be honest I don’t really know what else to say. I am beginning my process of detachment and will be in touch soon.

All my love,….

….

Yay Alex – not only are you to be commended on your wonderful character protrayals and your fantastic willingness and enthusiasm for the causes you support and literally, “take to heart”, but the fact that you do stay in touch with your fans and continue to read feedback and communicate back in prose so eloquent you are really a great ambassador for Australia. Being an Aussie who has only recently moved back after living in the States for many years, I can only hope that your young fan base really look at how well you write and express yourself and use you as a role model in this respect – it is wonderfully refreshing to see a blog come out of Hollywood that is not interspersed with “like” being every second word!
Keep acting, keep blogging and keep supporting the causes like the Red Cross and Organ Donation (Donate Life America) – you are an asset to all!

Thanks. Alex O’Loughlin is such a sweet and thoughtful gentleman. He deserves a very successful and long running drama series with a great time slot on CBS very soon. I know Alex will be on a new project very soon. I feel so sad for Alex. I can read it in his blog. He is so disappointed again. Good things will come Alex’s way very, very soon. I just know it. I will follow Alex in any role, television and films.

For anyone that has not noticed i just went to vote for the peoples choice for Three Rivers as favourite drama and it has been removed also, so the voting will now be fixed for anyone that has already voted for Three Rivers it will not count.
We all wanted Three Rivers to win and Alex to collect the award on behalf of himself and fellow actors, writers and producers.
    How bad is that!!
Is it not the peoples choice?

Thanks Kassie, that’s the reason I removed the voting banner from the home page. Unfortunately, if a show is cancelled during the voting period, it’s no longer eligible for an award. Eastwick was also removed from the same category after its cancellation.

As I mentioned before, I am not much of a blogger outside of my industry and the issues we work with on a day-to-day basis, but again, I feel compelled to comment.

Thank you so much Alex, for bringing large-scale awareness to this important issue. Although I have been blessed not to be in need of an organ, I have known several people who have. I appreciate your work and the time you plan to take in an effort to bring hope and awareness to others. I especially thank you for continuing your work with “Donate Life” regardless of the unfortunate fate of Three Rivers. I did enjoy the show and I think CBS has made another huge mistake. The message was so very important. However, your perseverance is to be commended and although I am not a close follower of celebrities and their lives, I believe you have earned my respect – which is not given lightly.

Again, thank you for seeing this through and I am very sorry that the work you and others put into Three Rivers only resulted in a few episodes. However, know that it has had a quite an impact on many peoples lives and you can all be very proud of that.
